Judging

JUDGING

  1. The judging committee consists of JJC faculty, staff, and industry professionals.

  2. All decisions of the judges are final.

  3. If in the event of a conflict, tie or recount, the CIOS department chairs' decision will be final.

Judging Criteria

The web design sites will be judged on the following...

General

  • A web site for which a developer was paid, is not eligible

  • No copyright or trademark violations

  • Content must be appropriate for general public

  • Use of correct grammar and spelling

Visual Design / Layout

  • Visual Appeal

  • Website Layout

  • Ease of navigation

  • Design Appeal

  • Style

  • Proper use of typography

Interactivity

  • Links on site are working

  • Site engages the user

  • Good use of hyperlinks

  • Logical structure of sites

  • Reasonable use of images, video, or audio

Technical

  • Load time for site

  • Compliance with W3C's HTML and Accessibility Specifications

  • Use of HTML features, CGI scripts, JavaScript's, Java applets

Accessibility

  • Image ALT tags

  • More than just a Javascript driven navigation
