Course
(catalog)description: Study
of ObjectOriented Programming in Java. Topicsinclude,
Java applets, Java applicator, control structuresand
methods, arrays, graphical user interface, graphics, multimedia withimages, animator and
audio,networking and Java utilities,
multi-threading, file streams and datastructures.. Required Textbook: JavaHow
to Program, Sixth Edition, by Deitel & Deitel, Prentice Hall.

Course Objectives:
At the end
ofthe semester the student will be able to: Write simple programs in Java, Usethe
Java applets, Use arrays and methods, Develop programs using
graphics,Understand the concept of Object Oriented Programming, Develop
programs usingGraphical User Interface, Utilize multimedia concepts, and Use
Java utilities.
Attendance Policy: Attendance and participation in class discussions
willcomprise a portion of each student's final course grade. This being the case, it is very importantthat
the student makes a concerted effort to come to class, on time, and beprepared
to participate in the class discussions.
Make-Up Policy: If you must
missan examination, you should discuss it with your instructor prior to the
absenceand arrange for a make-up examination. No make up exam will be given if
thetest paper is returned to the class.
Withdrawal/DropPolicy: It is the
student's responsibility to obtainthe necessary withdrawal forms if he decides
not to complete the course. The
instructor will recommend withdrawal forthose students not in regular
attendance at or before midterm and may recommendwithdrawal
of a student at any point in the semesterfor poor academic performance or for
cheating.
Special Needs: Students with a
documented disability, including a learning disability, who require testing
accommodations or must tape class lectures should identify themselves during
the first few weeks of the semester.
